Travellers Reviews

It was very late and there was a lot of information to take on board, especially about the rubbish. The staff were excpetionally helpful and having the quad to move bags around was great! ... For a big group Villa Rosa was perfect. There needs to be more bins in the rooms to make recycling easier. Plenty of hot water and plenty of facilities to cook properly. ... We were allowed to stay in our room until our transfer arrived. Very helpful, indeed. ... That good quality hairdryers are provided in every bathroom. Perfect for large groups of friends and families. Kitchens are well equiped to cook in. Rooms are cool and comfortable. Villa Rosa is closer to Atrani than Ravello. ... A stunning location and excellent facilities. We had children and babies in our group and we still managed to have a fabulous time, even with all the steps. Don't let it put you off, this is beautiful friendly place. (Ms.Quattro from The Chesh, UK)

after a long days travelling we found the directions not very good after we got off the motorway ... the villa rosa was beautiful we enjoyed the stay but found the 400 steps to atrini very hard work and we think they should advise it is not suitable for people who are not very mobile. ... the fact that the villa is half way up a mountain and not very accesable ... very comfortable lovely pool area and great views

QUITE ALOT OF NOISE FROM THE ROOM ABOVE AND BELOW, WHICH DID CAUSE PROBLEMS DURING THE NIGHT, YOU COULD HEAR PEOPLE GOING AND COMING AND ACTUALLY USING THE TOILETS, NO PRIVACY THERE. ... IRON NEEDED. HAIRDRYER NEEDED.
... FATASTIC SETTING, BUT BE AWARE OF THE LARGE AMOUNT OF STEPS IF ELDERLY OF DISSABLED. NOT EASY TO GET ABOUT. APARTMENT VERY SPACIOUS.

The caretaker did not speak English, but there was a very helpful young lady who was with him to do the translations and help with the check-in procedure.
It might be better to give the detail that, although the accommodation is within the boundary of Ravello, it is actually much closer to Atrani, the village down below, so customers should not look for it in Ravello village itself, and carry on down to the 'Dragone ' valley, and turn before the road climbs up to the village called Scala. ... Positive comments : 1) residents have access to a communal washing machine and iron, entirely free of charge, and towels are changed midweek. 2) the residence is literally within a 15-20 minute walk to Amalfi, where you can get boats to Positano, Capri etc.
On the negative side : 1) the private road down to the car park is really steep with hairpin bends which are difficult(though not impossible, thankfully!) to negotiate up and down with an average family estate car. Of cousre, anyone driving on the Amalfi coast and Naples area is probably prepared for some hairy driving anyway.... 2) the nearest shops (limited grocery)are in Atrani, really, as the walk up the communal path and then on the road to Ravello and the little 'Spar' supermarket is pretty difficult if you have a young child with you, which we did. ... A fantastic location with incredible views in an authentic village just off the beaten track and away from the tourist buzz. Good restaurants in the vicinity for those who don't want to cook. Spotlessly clean large family apartment with a swimming pool, huge lemon-tree filled garden and individual parking space, which is a real plus, given the lack of space and the price of parking in the area.

The access to the property is a quite narrow and steep road that is not recommended when having a big car or not being an experienced driver. ... see comments about the access road. ... Nice appartment with a splendid view and having a basic accomodation.

The caretaker was helpful to an extent but spoke no English. ... We didn't get any room clean while we were there and no clean towels even though we were told we would on Wednesday and even after we asked for more, we got none. ... There was no mention of 350 steps need to walk in order to reach Atrani and very steep climb in order to come back up to the apartments from there. It was very difficult for the eldery and young children. Also no mention of how difficult it was for taxis to access the property given the narrow road. It was not very clear how far Villa Rosa is from Ravello - not within walking distance at all but a 15 euro taxi ride. ... Pretty apartments, full of character and beautiful furnishings, fantastic views, great pool, laundry room, but situated high above Atrani. Access via steep steps, only suitable for the fit and able. A 10 min taxi ride from Ravello.

The distance from shops and Revello were understated. The villas are not suitable for un fit clients 400 steps to Atrani the nearest shops. ... Accomadation was exceptable but the steps were to much would not recommend it to any one

We arrived as a group very late and were met and shown the apartments in a very organised, efficient manner! ... As we were a group hiring all the apartments, check out was a bit chaotic and drawn out. ... The recycling issue may become problematic. There are 6 or 7 different bins that rubbish needs to be sorted into but only two bins in each apartment. The rubbish has to be sorted through at the recycling centre but it would be alot simpler if the whole process were better explained.
Also, the constant drilling on the cliffs opposite the aprtments became tiresome. ... Excellent location, great facilities. Would love to go back!

The apartment was great except that they would provide us with only one key. This was a 3 bedroom Apartment that could sleep 8 people so to provide one key was inconvenient. We had a very large group renting many apartments there and this was a problem! Also, you should provide an iron and ironing board ( there is one old iron and board that are chained next to a little room by the pool only.......not professional) Also it would be nice to supply dish soap. Other than that, the property was lovely. ...
A cash deposit was required on check in. This was not stated in the reservation.

Didn't use the directions as we had a hotel transfer. Bit disappointing that we had to walk quite a long way down hill from where we were dropped off at the gates, carrying our bags. ... Our apartment was much larger than it had looked in the photographs. The villas were situated a good distance from one another so it was private, not in a block or too close together. ... We had to deal with a language barrier, which prevented the staff from understanding that we needed to check-out earlier than other guests, as our hotel transfer was in the morning. The staff were very slow in checking the itinerary for each villa as well as cleaning them, before each guest could check-out. This was a terrible system. ... There are currently maintenance works being carried-out on the adjacent cliff sides of the valley. The constant drilling noise was so loud and started at 7am each day - very annoying! ... Beautiful.

Difficulty of accessing nearest village on foot. ... No problem experienced at checking out.
... Difficulty of access to the property. ... Wonderful place to stay with beautiful views. Car necessary to access Ravello and Amalfi. Parking can be a problem.
