We arrived by train to Vietra sul Mare--(better if we had gone into Salerno). Then found the bus toward Amalfi. We asked the bus driver to drop us off at the Cannaverde Restaurant, and a very nice waiter helped carry our bags and get us to the hotel. ... Villa Pandora was fabulous! We loved it, and it was exactly as expected--probably more beautiful because photos don't do it justice. We were there without a car, and too scared to rent scooters, but the bus system works pretty well once you figure it out and plan in advance your timing. It was very romantic and peaceful. Every night we sat on our terrace and counted the boats in the bay. I had read a review where someone complained about the daytime horns as the cars drive the coast--it didn't bother us, and just added to the ambiance of the Amalfi coast. We will definately stay there again! ... It was very easy. We had to leave very early since we traveled by bus and train, and they were very accommodating. ... There are 2 fantastic restaurants within walking distance, one in each direction. The Cannaverde restaurant had the best food of anyplace we ate in Italy, and very reasonable prices. I don't know the name of the other restarant, but it was our 2nd favorite from all the ones we tried. Great little beach within close walking distance (by the 2nd restaurant) but requires going down lots of steps--we liked it better than the beach in Maori. You're not allowed to eat in your room, so plan on finding restaurants for lunch and dinner--not a problem with all the towns to close. We explored 1 or 2 towns each day, with relaxing at the hotel pool between lunch and dinner. Series of steps to get to the rooms, but ok as long as you're not physically challenged. The Grotto below the hotel is not accessible from the hotel-you must go to Maiori and rent a boat. We didn't do it because it was too expensive. Overall, a fantastic place! ... Romantic, Great views, peaceful, quiet, picturesque. Overall one of our favorite hotels ever!
