Everyday of the week there is an open market full of atmosphere, each time in a different small town near by Stresa. In town it takes place every Friday morning, it is situated in the car park behind the main square and the centre of Stresa has a verity of shopping available. Borromeo Islands:The Borromeo family privately owns these three small Islands in front of the Hotel. Particularly romantic and interesting is to visit the castle on the Isola Bella as well as the botanical gardens. Lake Orta: Small typical lake, which gives a particular charming atmosphere. It is famous for the Island of St. Giulio, important for its three-aisle church and for "St. Giulio's Bread" baked by the cloister nuns, the only inhabitants of the island. Villa Taranto:They are 16 hectares bought in 1931 by Capt. Neil McEacharn with the intention of converting it in one of the best botanical gardens in the world. Since 1952 the garden have been open to the public. illa Pallavicino: Beautiful historical Villa situated a 1 Km. out of the town centre, but particularly nice for children because of the zoological garden, with a lot of animals. Several Golf Courses are available in our surroundings, 2 in Stresa.The cable car at Carciano (Stresa's Lido) takes you up to Mount Mottarone, with a midway station providing access to the alpine gardens and a top station that boasts some of the best views of the lake and surrounding areas. Ferry port: Situated on the lakefront opposite the Town Hall. Ferry tickets may be purchased from local Travel Agencies or the ticket office at the ferry port. Also available small boats moored next to the ferry port are a private taxi service. |
