| Alta Valtellina, embraced by the Stelvio National Park which alone is worth a holiday, is the ideal place to relax amidst nature and dedicate oneself to sporting activities. During summer or in the intermediate seasons, choice is vast such as strolls or more demanding excursions on foot, mountain bike or on horseback through splendid valleys, otherwise one could play golf or try summer skiing on the Stelvio Pass (2757 m), try climbing and experience the exhilaration of a vertical or conquer famous summits. Furthermore, one could go fishing in limpid stretches of water, play tennis, try archery, do summer sledge-dog, go ice-skating at the ice stadium of Bormio which is open even throughout the warmest seasons. During winter, one may ski on world-famous ski slopes which have ultra-modern ski-lifts. This could be the reason why twice, in 1985 and 2005, the Alpine Skiing World Championship took place right here. First class hotels, high-quality level of facilities which are dedicated to free time and fun. There are also splendid cross-country ski trucks, sledge-dog and snowboard. The offer for tourists is made even more extraordinary by the ancient hot water springs, which are at a temperature between 37° and 43° C, and consist of sulphate-alkaline-earthy-mineral water with a trace of radon. These springs feed Bormio Terme, recently renovated, as also the Olympus of well-being which is the Bormio Spa Resoty (New Baths and Old Baths). Bormio, at an altitude of 1220 metres, boasts an important political and strategic past which is mirrored in its historical centre, palaces and towers. It's considered a summer and winter holiday resort of international fame. The receptive offer is excellent and offers many sporting opportunities, also though, relax and entertainments are assured. Livigno, with its excursion paths and mountain bike tracks, is a corner of Valtellina mande unique by nature. Here, in 2005, the Mountain Bike and Trial World Championships took place. Immersed in flashing white snow during the winter, it's also a tax-free zone. S.Caterina Valfurva is an oasis of peace within the valleys of the Stelvio National Park. It's a joy for excursionists and a paradise for alpinists and skiers durint the winter season. It's also home to the Vallivo museum where there is an exact reproduction of a typical local mountain hut with various sections dedicated to skiing, mountain climbing and local trades. |
