Nearby Facilities

The most attractive place to visit nearby is definitely the famous Castellana Grotto:
We owe the discovery of the grottoes to the speleologist, Franco Anelli, who climbed into the Castellana "Grave" on 23rd january, 1938. He demostrated that is was not a bottomless, snare-ridden abyss (as a legend had it), but the entrance to an unspoilt route winding between calcareus concretion of rare beauty. At 70 m. below ground-level the grotto displays a spectacle of crystal inflorescence of the purest white. The stalactities extend sharply from the valut, whereas the stalagmites at one time surfaced from the mirror-like waters that collected in drips on the floor. With easy distance you can visit some interesting places as Alberobello the city of Trulli, Cisternino (known as one of the most beautiful "old towns" of Italy), Egnazia with its ancient ruins, Ostuni the "white" town, Martina Franca for the apulian baroque, the Safari Zoo at Fasano...
