Its name is taken from the characteristic boat used by the "rais", head of the "mattanza". |
 The congress centre in the structure should be mentioned, with a capacity of up to 400 people, and equipped with the most modern audio-visual aids; the "Marfaraggio" hall is also spacious - 250 seats available - located in the old building where the boats used during the mattanza were housed, and annexed are two attractive meeting rooms for up to 30 persons. The "agro ericino" is disposed as an entry gate to uncontaminated areas, where terrestrial and marine environment interlace and mingle. Here, starts a fascinating itinerary beginning from Valderice, which has a hill position, from where you can reach the coast passing through the green pine forest up to the antique Tower of the "Tonnara di Bonagia", which is now a museum.
Then you can go to Erice, an antique Medieval village, and cover the "Via del sale", a thousand miles natural reserve which is encircled by windmills and mounds of salt. The isle of Mozia and the steep range of "Riserva dello Zingaro" are easily reachable as well. This is an itinerary, which can be enjoyed in a very relaxing way to revive the authentic emotions of a journey through time.
The countryside around Erice, a wide valley below the peak, is like the entrance to unspoiled areas in wich the land and the sea entwine and blend with each other, between present and the past offering landscapes that seduce the visitor. |
