| For those who love walking, biking or horse riding, Tocerano is the ideal place becouse it is situated along the "Green Path One", a naturalistic and cultural itinerary recommended by the Mountain Community of Umbria High Tiber and from Italian Alpine Club (CAI). It is a very important zone from the geological point of view, with frequent emergences of fossil of the Miocenic period. The zone ends in a unhabited and savage territory, dominated by the Guard Tower of Marzana. The works of Alberto Burri, genial artist of Cittą di Castello, are exposed in Palazzo Albizzini and in Rignaldello's former drying-houses of tabacco. The monuments, the Palaces of the Priori and of the Podestą, the Cylindrical Bell-Tower and the Civic Tower, the frescoes by Signorelli in the Church of San Crescentino are all places worth to be visited. Cittą di Castello has also many cultural initiatives, such as the Concerts organized each year, from the end of augustto the beginning of September, for the Chamber Music Festival of the Nations.You can also visit the other towns of the Tiber High Valley: Citerna, Lisciano Niccone, Montone, Monte Santa Maria Tiberina (the nearest one), Pietralunga, Sangiustino and Umbertide. Not far from Tocerano are Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Cortona, Arezzo, and the Lake Trasimeno. Tennis Courts, riding-grounds and discoes can be reached in a few minutes. |
