Restaurant: The restaurant "Le Syrene", with its terrace facing the exclusive Via Camerelle, can accommodate 200 guests. It offers an excellent international cuisine and the typical Capri dishes. Buffet and room service are also available.

Guided Tours: Tour around the island - Every morning (except winter) with departure at 9 am the ride lasts about 2 hours. Blue Grotto - Motorboat from Marina Grande; you may enter the grotto in a rowboat, for a fee, from 9 until one hour before sunset.

The "Sporting Club": The Capri Sporting Club, located in Anacapri si placed in one of the most suggestive area of the island, in a position dominating the Gulf of Naples, it arranges three well-lit tennis courts, two of which in red-surface and one for multifunctional activity. The international-sized "central", contains about 400 seats. Parking, sitting-room with snack-bar/tea-room, TV sat, table-tennis, green areas and a very close swimming-pool complete the structure. This is an ideal "meeting point" for sportsmen or tourists looking for a young, pleasant place to relax. In the Club has its seat an all-year-operative "F.I.T. certificate" tennis club, directed by the international instructor and referee Giuseppe Di Stefano. You can easily have single or group lessons, even in foreign languages (English, German, French, Spanish). Tournaments, exhibitions and all the other activities are always on-going, especially in summer.Besides tennis, in the specialized centres of the island sportsmen can do fitness, marina activities and scuba-diving with international patent NAUI-SSI-IDEA.

Sites of Historical Interest: Certosa of San Giacomo: Medioeval monastery which traces arab culture; of particular interest is the small Closter and the Church. It includes the Certosa Museum and the town hall library.
Church of San Costanzo: Founded in the year 1000 and enlarged in 1300, which contains the relics of the Saint Constantine patron saint of Capri. The interior is basilican but in it you can recognize the original Greek-cross plan, inscribed in a square with recycled columns, supporting the dome and the vaults of the side-aisles.
Church of San Michele: Reknown for its majolica floor, its paintings, the marble highaltar and the wooden side altars of the XVIII century.
Church of Santa Sofia: Founded in 1510, of interest are the domes and the late baroque facade.
Villa San Michele: Built by Axel Munthe, swedish physician and writer on the ruins of an ancient Roman villa. Now a museum with a wonderful garden.
Villa Jovis: The most important of Tiberius villas in its original plan.
Monte Solaro: The highest point of the island where you can enjoy an unforgettable panorama.
Belvedere Migliera: Wonderful walk towards an enchanting panorama.
Castiglione and Belvedere Cannone: From the "Piazzetta" along Via Madre Serafina you will reach the Belvedere Cannone from which you can survey the eastern part of the island, with the Faraglioni and the inlet of Marina Piccola. Just before the Belvedere a starway leads up to the medieval castle of the Castiglione, completely renovated.
Capri: Capital of the island, the town is formed of little houses in tufa and limestone, covered with terraces. Elegant boutiques fill the lanes that surround the central "Piazzetta".
Anacapri: Set on the slopes of Monte Solaro, is the second center of the island, largely composed of white houses.
Piazza Umberto (Piazzetta): This small square, known here simply as the "Piazzetta" is always bustling and crowded and is the heart of Capri.
Marina Grande: This is the most frequently used port on the island, and is also a noted beach and swimming spot. The town extending along the little port is set at the center of a broad inlet overlooking the Gulf of Naples, at the western edge of which extends the beach, while just a bit further along you can see the ruins of the so-called "Palazzo a Mare" probably Augustus's favorite residence on the island, stripped during excavations done at the end of the 18th century.
Marina Piccola: Beach resort, as well as the island's southern landing point. The port of Marina Piccola is a point of departure for interesting excursions to the Grotta Verde, the Faraglioni and the other marine grottoes of the southern side of the island.
Faraglioni: The first of these three rocks (elev. 109 meters.) is known as the "Stella" and is joined to the coast, the second one is the lowest of the three (elev. 81 meters.) while the third (elev. 104 mt.) known as the "Scapolo" is inhabited by a rare type of light blue lizard.
Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto): The ancients already knew the famous grotto as we can see from the ruins of Roman structures but the true discovery came during the 19th century. The aperture is about 2 meters across and just over a meter high; the interior can be reached with special boats (the depth of the sea ranges from 14 to 22 meters).
Gardens of Augustus: A public garden overlooks the sea, with scenic terraces offering panoramic views of Capri, the Faraglioni and the Marina Piccola. |
