Our arrival was very smooth and satisfying. The room was ready. The personnel were very friendly and welcoming. She even made us a lunch of sandwiches even though the kitchen was closed. We were very hungry and very appreciative of that. It started off our stay on a wonderful note. ... We loved our stay at Masseria Salamina. The grounds and structures are quite beautiful. The pool was wonderful with a very picturesque landscape. I don't think the website does the place justice. We were very impressed with how beautiful the walkways, terraces, overhangs and groves were. The staff was warm, friendly, helpful and courteous. We even brough back olive oil and jams that were produced on the Masseria which we are continuing to enjoy. I highly recommend Masseria Salamina. ... better pictures of the pool area; better pictures of the views of the grounds including the wonderful stone structures and the cobblestone pathways and entrances. ... Warm, friendly, relaxing experience within a charming, picturesque environment that makes one appreciate the history of this region of Italy.

We were worried about our possible late arrival as our flight to Brindisi was due to arrive at 2115 and we had to pick up our hire car and drive about 50km. I thought it could be after midnight when we arrived, so I asked if this would be OK before booking. They said that was OK and they would wait for us. Actually, we arrived about 2240 so it wasn't too late. The only problem about arriving late (in the dark) is finding the entrance to the reception, which has no sign at all so it took about 5 mins to find our way in. After being shown to our room, I went back to reception and asked if it was possible to get a coffee. They made 2 cappuccino's immediately and also provided biscotti - and I don't think they charged for these. ... The place is family run and is beautiful. It is extremely quiet and peaceful. The included breakfast is excellent and so are the evening meals (optional extra - see additional comment later). The family eat in the same dining room. It doesn't feel like you are staying in a hotel, it's more like being a guest of the family. It's a pity that they speak very little English as it would be nice to be able to talk to them - but that's our fault for not being able to speak much Italian!! ... We paid exactly what we were quoted but were provided with better accommodation - an apartment rather than a room so the value was outstanding. ... The evening meal situation is a little confusing. You can see from the web site that a set 4 course meal is available for 25 euros per person. The food is excellent but 4 courses is too much - every night. However, it is possible to have fewer courses - whatever you want - so, after our first night, we had the pasta and main courses but didn't have the antipasti and dessert. This is charged less (19 Euro) - though we didn't know how much until we got our bill. The price charged for extras - wine and water - was very cheap! ... Wonderful. We would recommend it to anyone - young or old.

I think we had only booked a double room but ended up with a small suite, which was lovely.
It took us a little while to find someone to help us, but once we did find someone (the owner's daughter (Valeria?)), she was extremely friendly and helpful. ... Simply fantastic. The flowers were more vibrant, the scenery more spellbinding and the rooms cooler and more comfortable than we could have hoped for. The swimming pool - under construction when we arrived - will be the final touch. I am sure we will be back at Masseria Salamina before long! ... It all ran very smoothly, and in fact the staff went 'above and beyond' - the hallmark of a really great place to stay - by allowing me to come back and use the shower before we drove off to the airport, even though we had already checked out. That was extremely kind; and that is the hallmark of a great host. ... The website is very comprehensive - the only things that you might want to emphasise are:
*Cheap flights with Ryanair to Bari & Brindisi
*The wonderful surrounding towns, crammed full of history and amazing sights: Martina Franca, Cisternino and Monopoli in particular. ... In 4 words:
Simply wonderful - book now!

We arrived hungary. They offered to serve a light lunch and also suggested lunch by the sea or at a restaurant. THey called and made the reservation for us and alerted the restaurant that we were not fluent in Italian. The restaurant choice could not have been better, in fact, it was our favorite on the entire trip. ... The one thing that they need to make sure that guests are aware of is that the sleeping quarters are upstairs. ... It was a fortified farmhouse set among olive and fruit groves. It was paradise. Breakfast in the courtyard with the best cappucino. THe service was topnotch. Dinner was fabulous. SInce I don't eat meat we opted to eat at the farmhouse on their fish nights - several courses each more special. It was fabulous. I would go back and would reccommend it to friends.

We had a really excellent stay here and would definitely return. We had the pool to ourselves most of the time that we used it (which was great!) as there are only 15 or so rooms at the Masseria and a lot of people seemed to be just passing through for 2 or 3 nights so were out exploring the local towns/countryside. My only (small) gripe would be that the hot water seemed to run out in the shower after about 5 mins. I know that I should be quicker in the shower, but this did mean a bit of a cold shower for my husband a couple of times! ... The Masseria is beautiful, with some of the accomodation in the main building and other rooms around the side in another old converted building (maybe it was a barn?). The pool is excellent has a nice view across olive groves to the sea in the distance. The rooms were very clean with adequate modern furnishings. Our bed was on a cute mezzanine. We dined at the restaurant on a couple of nights and the food was very good (traditional Italian 4 courses to be prepared!) and they will cater for vegetarians if you mention it earlier in the day when you book.

This was a perfect getaway spot! My only regret is that I don't speak Italian or German, so communication with this beautiful, apparently happy, warm and friendly family was so limited. I can't recommend it enough for a peaceful county retreat!

We ran out of hot water in our room and the heat was on a timer that was insufficient for our needs. We had to eat in our coats in the main dining room, because both during our breakfasts and dinner, there was no heat in this room. The fireplace was never lit? ... see my above comments on this. ... Nice location, easy to find, clean and friendly with great food. But, don't go there in February as it's too cold and windy to really enjoy properly.

Made welcome in a professional manner. ... WE FELT THE ONE THING MISSING WAS A SMALL/QUIET BAR AREA WHERE GUESTS COULD BUY A DRINK AND MINGLE WITH OTHER GUESTS.
OUR STAY WAS EXCELLENT, NO COMPLAINTS ... THE NEW SWIMMING POOL, ONLY OPENED A WEEK WHEN WE WERE THERE. IT IS FABULOUS AND NEEDS A PHOTO PUTTING ON THE WEB SITE. POINT OUT THAT EVENING MEAL, HAS NO CHOICE MENU, IT IS A SET MENU, ALTHOUGH FOOD WAS VERY GOOD, AND SERVICE POLITE AND EFFICIENT. ... VERY GOOD QUIET LOCATION, VERY RELAXING, WITH OTHER GUESTS ENJOYING THE TRANQUIL LOCATION. |ITALIAN FAMILY/OWNERS ON HAND FOR YOUR EVERY NEED, FRIENDLY BUT PROFESSIONAL. CLEAN SPACIOUS ROOMS, WONDERFUL FLOWERS AND LOVELY OLD HISTORIC BUILDING. QUITE UNIQUE AND VERY ITALIAN !!

We arrived with an additional family member; the owners made this clear that this was no problem at all and adjusted the bedding etc immediately. ... A lovely hotel in a peaceful setting, run by a delightful family who made us feel very much at home. Location is excellent for visiting the most interesting towns and sights of Puglia and is also close to the beach.

Arrive late in the evening and were properly greeted and even had a nice dinner prepared for us. ... The room was very clean and spacious. It would have been nice to have more windows; we felt that we were in a white washed cave. The furniture was OK, with two sofa pull out beds that served as couches that were uncomfortable. The master bed was very nice. More sitting chairs and a coffee table would have been nice. ... Rustic, well maintained masseria close to town on beautiful grounds with nice pool. Large rooms, reasonably priced and modestly furnished but very clean. Excellent dinners and lovely european continental breakfast. Wonderful owners and family, very graceful, a delight as hosts.

the animals in the farm were a big hit with the children. Beatiful countryside. The breakfast could be improved. No cereals for children and no 'fresh' toast
