Historical Signs
Masseria Salamina, erected on an earlier building, is a 17th-century fortified farmhouse, because the populations of that time had to defend from Saracens who disembarked on the nearby coast and plundered rural centers, killing people. In the following centuries there were some changes in order to conform the imposing structure to the agrarian necessities of the time, without modifying appearance. During the last war, the farm was the center of the allied headquarters of the area.

Masseria Salamina it is the name that the farm has always had, at least since 1600, when Joseph Salamina provided for plants in more than 494 acres (200 hectares) the actual olive trees, which today are about 400 years old. Over the centuries, families who succeeded the Salamina family, such as the Bianco family, the Counts Cenci of Cisternino and also our family, have preserved the proper historical name of the farm. There is a church presenting the form of Latin cross from which it sticks out the masonry of the wings sides. Probably the church was restructured in the 1792 when it was enlarged on an earlier cult-building.
