By Air:
If you arrive by plane at either Linate or Malpensa Airport you should take the airport bus to Milano Stazione Centrale. Buses from Linate leave every 30 minutes from 6:05 a.m. until 23:35 p.m. The ride to the station takes approximately 20 minutes. Buses from Malpensa 2000 "Terminal 1" leave every 20 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 0:15 p.m. The ride takes about one hour. To find the trains to Varenna look for the train line Sondrio-Tirano, which will always stop in Varenna. Once off the Varenna railway station, turn right and walk straight for about 5 minutes until you reach a square (Piazza S. Giorgio), we are on your left hand side.
By Car From the airport:
From Linate airport (same indications if you arrive from the motorway A1 Roma-Milano) take Tangenziale Est following the sign Como - at the Exit Sesto San Giovanni take motorway n. 36 direction Lecco. Once in Lecco follow the sign to Sondrio/Valtellina, (motorway n. 36) - take the first gate on the right to Mandello del Lario/Abbadia Lariana/Varenna, drive for about 15 km and you will reach Varenna. We are located right in the city centre in a position overlooking the lake, so drive towards the centre and you'll find u dint the main square (Piazza S. Giorgio).
From Malpensa airport take highway A8 direction Milan, then you have two possibilities:
1)Exit direction Como/Chiasso and continue on A9, take exit Como and then always direction Lecco (passing Como, Erba, Pusiano), once arrived in Lecco continue as above indicated.
2)When you are on highway A8, go until gate Viale Certosa, then change to highway A4 (direction Monza), take exit Cinisello Balsamo motorway n.36 direction Lecco, Sondrio. Once arrived in Lecco continue as above indicated. |
