The Royal Sporting Hotel overlooks the enchanting scenery of the "Golfo dei Poeti", which inspired famous poets such as Shelley and Byron, and is situated directly on the sea, at about 800 mt. from the historical centre of Portovenere, a charming medieval sea village dated back to the Roman era. Thanks to its optimal position the hotel assures a quite and comfortable stay to its guests and is the ideal starting point to visit the "Cinque Terre", one of the most famous and striking places of Italy.

In this wonderful environment the Royal Sporting Hotel offers an ideal stay for those who are looking for a relaxing holiday or enjoy scuba diving and fishing in the clear sea waters of the bay. The hotel is provided with all facilities such as a panoramic restaurant, an american bar, meeting rooms, a tennis court, a wonderful garden ideal for reading and relaxing, a covered garage and an outdoor seawater swimming pool with a large solarium terrace where sun-lounge chairs and beach towels are at the guests' disposal.

During the summer season buffet breakfast and lunch are served on the terrace at the edge of the swimming pool. The hotel's restaurant "Ristorante dei Poeti", personally attended by the owner of the hotel, the chef Abramo Prandi, offers a wide choice of fish specialities and proposes typical and international dishes.

Portovenere, situated at the far west end of the "Gulf of Poets", has got probably a roman origin, as "Portus Veneris" was already mentioned in the 161 bc. The picturesque 12th century hamlet in Genovese style preserves the enchantment of the sea villages with its coloured houses facing the sea.

We suggest to visit the beautiful monuments of Portovenere among which there are the Genovese Castle, the Church of S. Lorenzo consecrated in 1130 and the ancient church of S. Pietro, built in 1277 on the foundations of a pre-existent pagan temple of the sixth century, which stands on a natural promontory, a sheer drop to see: the rocks and the blue of sea and sky blends in a scenery of extraordinary and rare beauty.
