The Gardens:
The majestic gardens are a superb example of how botanical gardens were laid out under the reign of the Bourbon royal family, with evocative scenes of classical architecture amid the rare specimens of beautiful trees. The Temple of Venus or indeed the remains of the castle bear witness to the desire first of the Bourbons and later of the Cortchacovs to keep the memories of this delightful place alive. Enjoy a relaxing drink as you take in the changing hues of the gardens: the long, uninterrupted glazing seems to provide exactly the right filter for blending the evocative emotion of the natural world with the pleasing notes from the piano bar.

The Swimming Pool:
The large swimming pool is filled with sea water and was envisaged by Ponti more as a "pond for wood nymphs" than as a mere attraction for swimmers. He described it as a pool "... out of which rise islands for the classical attitudes of Récamier or Paolina, of female beauty; and from the water emerges a masonry ladder to climb and then dive into the depths...". Sea water swimming pool is open from May to September.

The Beach:
There is an alternative to the swimming pool: the private beach. The sandy shore or the rocks, the concrete solarium or a relaxing interlude at the seaside restaurant, with its seafood specialities, its continental cuisine or a truly excellent pizza. All you have to do is choose! Private beach is open from June to September.

Sorrento and surrondings:
According to the tradition, Hercules, strength pagan god, loved a nymph called Amalfi, but his love was short: she died and Hercules buried her in the most beautiful place of the world, and to immortalize her, he gave it her name. According to the history, it was founded after Constantino's death; its origins came from Roman families.... The Duomo, at the top of a steep flight of steps, dominates the town's main piazza. it' s decorated, almost gaudy facade topped by a glazed tiled cupola that's typical of the region. Inside, it's a mixture of Saracen and Romanesque styles, though now heavily restored, with a major relic in the body of St Andrew buried in its crypt. The most appealing part of the building is the cloister oddly Arabic in feel, with its whitewashed arches and palms. It was built in the eleventh century, rebuilt in the Arab-Norman style in the twelfth and further altered in the eighteenth. The bell tower was built between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. The thirteenth century Paradise cloisters, surrounded by an elegant portico with pointed, interwoven arches and supporting columns, was built by Archbishop Filippo Augustariccio as a sepulchre for illustrious people of the town. You can also visit the arsenal of the Republic which is a grandiose Gothic construction, the Cappuccini Hotel which was a thirteenth century convent with cloisters and a loggia, the Civic Museum containing the Tabula Amalphitana which is the oldest navigational manual in the world, and the map museum.
