You can reach the Poseidon Hotel with private or public transport. Probably the best way to discover the Amalfi Coast is to leave your car in the garage and rent a scooter or take the bus.
BY CAR:
Directions from Naples to Positano:
Take the motorway to Salerno (A3), exit at Castellammare di Stabia (the exit after Pompei). Follow the signs to Sorrento and when you come to Meta di Sorrento, follow the signs to Positano (do not go into Sorrento). When you arrive at the entrance of Positano (Chiesa Nuova), take the road down to the right, which is a one way street and continue down for about 1 kilometer and a half and then you will come to the Poseidon on the left hand side of the street.
Directions from Rome to Positano:
Take the Highway "A1" and drive in the direction to Naples. After passing the Caserta Sud exit (do not leave the Highway), take the green sign for Salerno "A3". Take particular care, not to take the Salerno "A30" and do not take the turn which goes into Naples Centre. Follow this Highway and look for the sign "Salerno A3" - Penisola Sorrentina - Costiera Amalfitana. Pass through the Toll Gate, exit and then leave the Highway and exit at Castellammare. Follow the directions Naples - Positano as written above.
BY AIRPLANE: the nearest airport is Naples Capodichino, international airport. From the airport you can take the bus leaving to Sorrento and Positano or a taxi. If you prefer you can rent a car and follow the directions to Costiera Amalfitana and Positano.
BY TRAIN: you can take the train to Salerno or Naples. If you arrive in Naples, you can take the train, called "Circumvesuviana" leaving to Sorrento and from there the Sita bus stop for Positano is outside the train station. If you arrive in Salerno, take the bus to Amalfi and change the bus to Sorrento: get off in Positano. |
