Perched atop a hill, in the lush green countryside of Umbria, sits the medieval village of Farnetta di Montecastrilli. Surrounded by ancient oak trees from which the village took its name, Farnetta was a feudal member of the "Terre Arnolfe" territory until the 12th Century. In 1300, a parcel of land was deeded to the Nevi Family, which has lovingly farmed and respected this land for 700 years. |
Today, after years of extensive restoration, the Nevi Family invites you to experience for yourself the pleasing blend of the medieval and the modern. Driving north from Rome, you will feel your tension ease as you make your way on winding roads, passing vineyards, olive groves, sunflower and wheat fields, medieval churches and quaint villages. Upon arriving in Farnetta, the sight of "Poggio di Casanova"” at the end of a cypress-lined driveway will make your heart swell. No matter what level or type of stress your modern life imposes upon you, it will vanish upon engaging with the visual beauty that engulfs you. |
Built in 1700 as a country villa, "Poggio di Casanova" dominates stately rolling lawns that trail off into fields and woods, providing breathtaking panoramic views. Thoughtful care has been taken to rebuild the villa using traditional methods and materials and to furnish it with antiques from the area. Yet, you will lack nothing in the way of modern conveniences or comfort. |
The Nevis have also restored a brick tower on the property, added a swimming pool, a terrace, and an outside fireplace and oven. In the big kitchens you can participate in cooking lessons, wine-tasting dinners, olive oil tastings and laughing and talking far into the night. The villa has accommodations for 17 people and the tower can accommodate another five. Various dynamic combinations can be arranged for up to 22 people. |
