English and French are the languages spoken at the Palma Hotel Pompei, where breakfast is served at the restaurant every morning: taste the pastries, the salami, the local prosciutto (ham), coffee, tea and yoghurt, while in the evening the typical Neapolitan dishes and seafood are served to satisfy your appetite. There is also a bar at the building, along with an Internet point in the hall where you can surf the web for free. |
The reception area is quite sophisticated, with a lounge full of armchairs where to rest and a tv room. The lodging has no parking lot of its own but there are many spaces near the hotel. One of the unique spots in the inn is the solarium at the roof: here there is a mini swimming pool and Jacuzzi that only works in summer. However, at all seasons you can access this upper floor to enjoy the panoramic view of the Vesuvio. |

| From the Circumvesuviana railway station you can reach Naples and other cities in the Vesuvio area, but the other central stop in Pompeii is only 1 kilometre away. Therefore, transport should not be a problem. Among the sites worth visiting, you should consider Paestum, Capri and the coasts of Sorrento and Amalfi. Nevertheless, the city of Pompeii has a lot of archaeological sites to explore: the city has its origings back in the 9th century B.C., when both Etruscans and Greeks left their track at "casas", amphitheatres and "basilicas". Most of these interesting ruins where discovered during the excavations that began in 1748 by Carlo di Borbone, though the works continued in the following two centuries. Check the Forum and the Basilica, where the civic life had its heart as well as the law courts and the business centre; then have a look at the Terme Stabiane, with still pools preserved for centuries and changing rooms; the gods are also worshipped at the different temples, dedicated to Apollo, Venus or others. |
