Near the learned and ancient city of Perugia, in the charm of a wood-clad hillside, with glimpses of the Umbrian countryside all around, are ideally situated the Oscano Residences: the Castle of Oscano, Villa Ada and Oscano Mill. Each of these has been designed to offer a particular form of accomodation and different types of facility, to meet varying requirements. In common they provide an atmosphere of great calm and cordiality.

The Castle
The Castle is a historical residence plunged in the tranquillity of the verdant Umbrian hills. The rooms are simply and elegantly decorated, further ennobled with lovely antique furniture, and equipped with every comfort.

In the beautiful Turandot dining-room you will discover the intriguing flavours of a true regional cuisine. The handsome library and exquisite sitting-rooms are ideal for reading, conversation and work. The Castle also offers a distinctive meeting room, where even work becomes a pleasure. Impeccable and unobtrusive service, and the magical natural background, make the Castle an
ideal setting for any type of cultural occasion and society life.

Villa Ada
Villa Ada is a late nineteenth-century residence adjoining the Castle. The rooms are soberly and elegantly furnished. The selective brickwork, the warm wood panelling and neutral colours reflect autentic Umbrian tradition, and convey a mood of ease and total relaxation. Villa Ada contains modern meeting-rooms for the most varied business-requirements.

The Oscano Mill is an authentic farming estate which makes and sells typical Umbrian products, such as wine, oil, cheese and honey.

History:
The two main towers of this castle a connecting parapet wall were built in the 15th and 16th century. They were occupied by soldiers from the papal state (against the Kingdome of Tuscany, at only few miles from the border line) who controlled the route that travellers took from Perugia to Tuscany. Hence the location of the Castle is 400 Metres (in altitude) over the valley floor and not at the real hilltop.

An American named Telfner originally German, from Bavaria went to America looking for fortune, and after having found it, built the current Castle sometime in the 1800's incorporating the originals towers and parapets wall into the Castle. He also acquired the title of "Count" and his motto, inscribed in the hall window, "work makes a men become noble" reveals the ambitions of those from the new world!!! Suite 210 "Contessa Ada" was his wife's suite and still retains her favourite colours ot green-blu and grey. Villa Ada, adjoining the Castle, was named after the countess. There were no known descendents of the Telfner's, but the Castle remained as a private residence until 1990 when it was converted into a hotel. Most of the forniture in the present hotel was acquired by count Telfner and has remained here ever since.
