The fourteen rooms and apartments of the Residence are all different and preserve most of their original features: antique furniture, paintings, kitchen utensils and little things which have always been there and tell the history of the family giving a special charm to these comfortable spaces. In the elegant 18th-century Palazzo Andreozzi there are nine stylishly decorated rooms, named after the Angels portrayed in the exquisite frescoes to recall the family name. The beautifully restored Palazzo Alberti features five unique apartments where Roman remains stick out from later architectural structures. The "case" (apartments) are typical examples of medieval architecture and their names, in early Italian, reflect their individual character. When choosing your room do not hesitate to ask the hostess and her collaborators for help: they will be happy to find the accommodation that is most suitable for you. |
Andreozzi Palace:
Arcangelo Michele Suite Prestige. For nearly 250 years the most important guests of the Angeli Nieri Mongalli family used to stay in these atmospheric rooms situated on the main floor and overlooking the street and the little square. The beautiful marble fireplace, the wonderful decorations and the brass ornaments in the drawing room convey a sense of elegance; in the centre of the vaulted ceiling a fresco by Antonio Castelletti from Perugia portrays Aeneas carrying his old father on his shoulders while fleeing from Troy fire. On the wall an old painting of the Archangel in an episode from the Bible. The big bedroom has a four-poster bed, an Empire commode and a 19th-century "Psyche" mirror. On the vaulted ceiling an important fresco with late 18th-century grotesque paintings. Spacious bathroom with shower.
Angelo Custode Room Privacy. The owners used to sleep under the caring protection of the Guardian Angel in this warm room on the main floor. The central Angel on the ceiling and the 19th-century musical symbols match the precious decorations and the period furniture with the marvellous golden-canopied bed and light blue flowery draperies. The yellow-tiled bathroom features a Jacuzzi tub where guests can relax. |
Arcangelo Gabriele Room Smiles. Walking along a red and black late 19th-century floor you get to this room where once the owners' children used to sleep. Under the brick red vaulted ceiling the creak of the ancient wooden floor puts you in a good mood and brings back memories of the past, as if, by magic, the place had taken in and were now giving back the "freshness" of those who once lived here. The bedroom has a beautiful 18th-century golden-canopied bed with ochre yellow draperies and a precious Empire golden mirror above an 18th-century chest of drawers. An access corridor leads you into a wide walk-in wardrobe. The beautiful old bathroom has a large shower and green tiles patterned with vine stems.
Arcangelo Raffaele Suite Light. Rooms, with a bird's eye view of the town, once used for leisure time activities. Three windows overlook the roofs and bell towers of Bevagna (the most beautiful belongs to St. Margherita convent); in the background Montefalco with its fruitful "Sagrantino" vineyards. A passage leads into a cosy drawing room and a beautiful bedroom full of light. In the drawing room there is a small staircase leading up to a sleeping loft, with a skylight, where two children or friends can be accommodated. The comfortable bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub and a shower.
Ramaela Suite Flavours. These are the rooms where the people in charge of the kitchen used to sleep: lots of space, sunlight and beautiful views on roofs and bell towers. In the background the superb sight of Montefalco with its "Sagrantino" vineyards. It has an elegant drawing room and a gorgeous bedroom with lovely draperies. Spacious boxrooms and wardrobes and a beautiful bathroom with bath and shower. |
Fortunata Room Nostalgia. There was dust and heirlooms on the old furniture and curiosities heaped up in this large attic room. We have cleaned up and restored everything but this room still preserve the charm of an old attic and it is a favourite with our guests. The two wide square windows overlook the roofs and the beautiful loggia of Palazzo Alberti. Near the entrance a walk-in wardrobe. The sunny bathroom features a comfortable bathtub with shower.
Ariel Room Perfumes. All the household linen was kept here in the 18th-century chests and red wardrobes and the place smelled of lavender and roses. Some pieces of furniture have been taken away to other rooms but the ceiling is still painted red. Right from the entrance, with two large wardrobes, your eyes turn to the light coming from the window which overlooks the hanging garden in front of the 18th-century loggia of Palazzo Alberti. A treat for your eyes and soul. The bathroom has a small window and a comfortable shower.
Virtues Suite The centre. It was the keepers' lodge, people the family could trust because they looked after the house all the time, so their rooms had views on the garden and the different doors. In the entrance there is a comfortable walk-in wardrobe and a fair-sized bathroom with jet stream shower. The drawing room features an old fireplace and beautiful local fabrics. Behind a small door the bedroom seems to float through space and time, the outer world caresses it with the gentle multicoloured scent of the garden.
Thrones Suite The sky. This part of the house, which was once reserved for guests, is still painted in blue. A mezzanine divides this room into two floors. Below there is a cosy drawing room, opposite the beautiful fireplace a large window frames the sky and lets in the light. On the sides of the fireplace two 18th-century doors lead to the wide walk-in wardrobe and the superb bathroom with bathtub and a wonderful view of the garden. Going up a hidden flight of stairs you reach the mezzanine with a beautiful bed and a skylight. |
Alberti Palace:
The Loggia Suite From the garden wall a lovely medieval loggia slopes down towards the little square, screening the short staircase which leads to this unique comfortable suite built on the smaller ambulatory of the Roman Theatre. The original features of the interior have been preserved and upgraded and it has rooms on different floors and a balcony overlooking the picturesque square. In the spacious living room, with a fireplace, a window gives onto a characteristic alley; in the old beamed ceiling an astounding? arch shaped? log shows how the original builders managed to find in nature the solution to a difficult structural problem. Five steps take to the romantic privacy of the bedroom with views of the alley and the garden; below the carefully preserved original beams there is a walk-in wardrobe, a comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom with a jet stream shower. The atmospheric interior and the opportunity of sharing in the genuine life and activities of the nearby square communicate a joyful sense of wellbeing.
The Sunny Suite From the hanging garden you can reach the sunniest ("lustrante" in the 13th-century vernacular) suite in the Palace, built on the remains of the Roman aqueduct. Under the 18th-century wood and tile ceiling, the three comfortable rooms reveal their medieval origin and their privileged position lets the sunshine in all day long. The spacious living room, with a sofa and writing desk, has a superb view of the 15th-century loggia, the old church of St. Francis and the remains of the Roman temple. On a slightly lower floor the bedroom features two unique medieval niches on the two sides of the big bed. A 19th-century wheat container occupies all the left-hand wall and serves as a walk-in wardrobe. On one side a door plunges you into the intriguing atmosphere of the bathroom, with an amazing terracotta bathtub set crosswise below floor level to round off a room which has no equal. |
The Big Suite From the loggia of Palazzo Alberti a common lounge, built on the two ambulatories of the Roman Theatre, leads to this apartment which is called "big" because of the plenty of space and comfort it offers and its superb view of the garden and roof tops. To the right of the corridor the big bedroom with a sloping ceiling is embellished by the austere medieval fireplace and brightened by the wonderful view of the hanging garden. To the left the spacious drawing room features a writing desk, a sofa and two large walk-in wardrobes. From the opening giving onto "Vicolo dell'Anfiteatro" your eyes will sweep over the roof tops and the beautiful countryside. The big bathroom with a bathtub and shower is full of the light coming from the ceiling.
The Bath Suite From the common lounge opening onto the loggia you get to the heart of Palazzo Alberti level with the hanging garden. From the corridor, with a writing desk, you reach the bedroom and a big boxroom. The two windows overlooking "Vicolo dell'Anfiteatro" afford a peaceful view of the village. A wall shows traces of the tiers of seats of the ancient Roman Theatre (the sloping wall and the original Roman concrete are clearly visible). In the bathroom the extraordinary bathtub is mounted like a rare jewel on the cavity of an old medieval fireplace. Pamper yourself with a wonderful "hot bath" (stufa in the 13th-century vernacular) in a unique place.
The "Alley" Suite In the heart of Palazzo Alberti, level with the hanging garden, this large and elegant apartment stands on the remains of the lesser ambulatory of the Roman Theatre. The drawing room features big oak beams, a stylish fireplace and traces of an ancient Roman wall, which have all remained unchanged through the centuries. To the left two steps lead to the bedroom with typical medieval niches and a beautiful bathroom with a jet stream shower. In the bedroom and the bathroom two doors open onto the balcony jutting out over the alley ("chiassetto" in the 13th-century vernacular): it is Vicolo dell'Anfiteatro, one of the most picturesque sights in Bevagna. |
