Was picked up and taken to the hotel from the train station - after I phoned the hotel to state my arrival.

A little out of the way but the staff make up for it.
For 2 kiwi girls who speak next to no Italian, the staff bent over backwards to assist in every way. Thumbs up.

The two rooms were in different parts of the hotel but this did not present any problems to us. We discovered on our return home that e-mails trying to cancel our booking had been sent transferring us to another hotel in a less convenient location. Luckily rooms were found at Hotel Nella at the last moment. We were unaware of all this when we checked in and no-one mentioned it.

We had a most enjoyable evening in Porto Venere where the hotel said parking was possible.

A good value hotel situated well out of the built up area of La Spezia with the dramatic Cinque Terre and scenic village of Portovenere close at hand. Comfortable with an excellent breakfast.

Directions should specify that the hotel is on the right side of the road as soon as you enter the city (pass the city sign).

Very nice, great price & location for traveling through the area. Only concern during warmer periods is lack of air conditioning, requiring windows to be open, resulting in traffic noise of racing Italians during the late hours. Traffic noise was noticable to light sleeper but acceptable.
I'd recommend.
