Roberto and Paola Cirinei wish to share the warmth of their home with the guests of the bed and breakfast "Villa Mustafà" an ancient nineteenth century mansion. Through the B&B formula, the current owners would love to introduce their guests to the history, the traditions and customs of the local community, alive in every corner of their ancient home. For those that prefer outdoor activities it is possible to organise walking treks through the countryside to discover unexpected waterways, colourful flowers and the shy wildlife. Those who prefer to stay close to the property can enjoy a large garden with a rich fruit orchard framed by a silvery olive tree plantation and a vineyard that offer plentiful relaxing moments during the fair season. |
Our House: Villa Mustafà is nestled is the countryside just outside of the renaissance town of Montefalco. Its name derives from the first owner the Maestro Domenico Mustafà. The Maestro was one of the famous "Castrati" singers of the Sistine Chapel Choir and a brilliant composer. When he left Rome, "he retired to his mansion a few kilometers from Montefalco where often his old friends went to visit him." |
"Those who met this singular person in the last years of his life, lived in the country, realized, through the precious conversations with the Maestro, his deep knowledge of the classics, of voice manipulation and the extravagances probably due to his exceptional physical being". His conversation was most pleasant rich in anecdotes, for his competence in his arguments and for his personality." (Excerpt from Archimede Cimatti). |
In the Montefalco cemetery, there is a beautiful monument in white marble positioned by the Maestro himself before his death. It shows him directing a large choir. Domenico Mustafà passed away in Montefalco in 1912 at the age of 83 leaving wonderful memories with those who met him. He left us, Roberto and Paola, who had the chance of knowing about him through books and stories told the honor of living in his country home named after him. |
