 Welcome to our Host Farm and Bed and Breakfast Masseria "Il Frantoio".
Your hosts Armando and Rosalba warmly welcome you to their host farm Masseria "Il Frantoio". This spectacular and impressive farmhouse and holiday resort immersed in 72 hectares of countryside, surrounded by secular olive trees, is a real Italian jewel. The white farmhouse is located in the countryside of Ostuni, only a few minutes drive from the sea, right in the heart of Puglia, a southern region of Italy known for its mild and welcoming climate all year round. |
 This beautiful 16th century olive mill offers an intimate and refined atmosphere of a place which is lovingly cared for. Guests soon feel at home in the warm ambience of the guest rooms, which are situated in the nineteenth century wing. The lounges and bedrooms exude taste and style and are exquisitely furnished with period furniture and family antiques. |
 One of the most fascinating places of the farm is its big underground oil mill, which gives its name to the farm and which still has the original olive press and mill. Here, in this natural underground cave olive oil was produced. Besides offering bed and breakfast accommodations, Masseria Il Frantoio still produces some of the best quality guaranteed (DOP) extra-virgin olive oils from mono-cultivation, with the most natural and organic methods. Following the instructions of very old recipes we have also attempted to produce a quite unique type of extraordinary liqueur: olive Rosolio. An important part of the farm is dedicated to organic cultivation especially olives, and using the fresh products obtained here on the farm our cuisine is both surprising and satisfactory. |
 Another treasure of this special retreat is the charming stone courtyard with exotic palm trees: a drive lined with pine trees takes you to this inner courtyard where it is pleasant to stop and rest or where you can have a candle-light dinner in the open air on summer evenings. Looking onto the courtyard there is a romantic and well kept Italian style garden with a peacock cage, a sunny citrus fruit garden with lemon, orange, mandarin and citron trees, where guests can dedicate to complete relaxation. The orchard is at the back of the dining-room; it teems with aromatic herbs, all strictly cultivated in the most traditional manner. |
 Masseria Il Frantoio is also equipped with stables and a big riding school, which has a lovely panoramic view on the sea and the surrounding hills. The riding school, located on slightly higher ground, is an absolutely quiet site which is an integral part of the property. The grounds surrounding our property are interesting and ideal for a ride, and with a good guide you can follow the paths through the fields to get to the beach. |
