| Sanremo is anyhow a "city of flowers" and it owes a great part of its richness and its economic welfare to the activity of flower growing. Greenhouses dominate the landscape and the floricultural sector can count on about two thousand producers, besides numerous forwarding agents. For sport activities there is an equipment of great interest: i.e. an 18 hole golf course with club house open all year round; a shooting range for target-firing; a riding ground at Solaro with a riding school and covered manège: tennis courts, minigolf, baseball and softball, volley ball; Olympic and training swimming pools. The sea offers sport activities of various kinds: i.e. fishing, diving, rowing, sailing, surfing, pleasure boating and two equipped marinas. Among the sport events, one must not miss the ''Classicissima'' (the most classic) Milan- Sanremo bicycle race, the Rally car race (that is valid for the world Pilot and Brand Champion- ship) and the sailing Criterium at Easter. For quality shopping there are elegant boutiques opened in the downtown streets; for all kinds of shopping one must go to the more commercial Palazzo and Corradi streets and, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, in the morning, to the colorful peddlers' market of Piazza Eroi Sanremesi, close to the pro-cathedral of San Siro. |
