 "Once upon a time..."
It's so that began my journey in search of old traditional Trasimeno cooking, this strip of land suspended between Umbria and Tuscany. It's so that started the stories of my grandmother Angela ("Angiolina" to friends) so that I spoke of the times in which dishes were really few and made from nothing, of the times in which his mother cooked on "pot" inside the large fireplace polenta, of the times in which major agricultural jobs or marriages were an opportunity to consume a meal that was not really something every day or even when on Sunday wore white aprons, the special to make noodles. And yet the torcolo with olive oil grandmother Elda leaving amazed by how good in its simplicity, or the scent of strufoli basket full of honey that led aunt during family reunions and even the pappa Tomato grandfather that was cooked slowly on the wood stove, the "soup liar" and the "fake sauce"... Many of the dishes that I propose today I have eaten them at home since I was a child and then I cooked them with my mother Joan, she too passionate cuisine... memories. |
 Today I try to retrieve this little family heritage and, as far as I can, encode... recipes. Undertaking anything but easy because many dishes must be made with the eye and the sense farmer rather than the balance! | Our house is in the countryside, but it will be very easy to reach the major cities and small villages of fishermen overlooking Lake Trasimeno. Getting the car is the easiest way to shoot freely from one destination to another, without any timetable. On request we can organize small bus with a driver and a guide will accompany you to discover the hidden corners of our magnificent Umbria. |
