Sorrento is a very pretty town where kindness and hospitality are a characteristic feature handed down from one generation to the other. Many civilizations have passed through here: the Etruscans, the Greeks (who gave the city its urban layout that is still clearly visible today in the historical centre), the Oscans, the Romans. During the 1800s Sorrento became famous for the "Grand Tour". Today Sorrento is a modern city with over one hundred comfortable hotels; it is the home of a prestigious and rich Museum (Correale of Terranova).
It is an ideal base for visiting all the tourist sites of the area. To reach Capri there is a hydrofoil boat about every hour which takes you to the island in 20 minutes. There are guided tours every day just ask at the reception desk for details. Il Roseto Bed and Breakfast is well located, close to the city centre of Sorrento, where you will find: chemist, banks, post offices, grocery stores, newspaper kiosk, tobacconist's and bus stop in vicinity.
