Il Crotto is located in one of the most characteristic areas of the lake, only 1,5 km from the centre of Bellagio, on the main road to Como. The house is situated in San Giovanni, a small and nice suburb, in front of the lake. There, you can find a restaurant, a church, a museum, a boutique and a grocery store, but for a better choice you can reach the centre of Bellagio, where there is all you need. Banks and chemists are also available in the surroundings, if you need. |
Coming from Como: once you get down into the city follow directions for Bellagio. Going out from the town you will follow a long, at some points narrow road which has lots of turns and bends, for 35 kms.Once you have passed through the village of Lezzeno you will see a while sign with blak writing saying Bellagio. Exactly 1 km after this sign you will take the first road on your left hand side which is signposted for San Giovanni, Ristorante Mella and Porto Turistico... Go slowly and take the next turn on your left side for Via al Crotto: this is a narrow road and after approx 200 metres it widens and you have a road down to your right... Take this road down to the right and the very first property on your left side ( white building with well kept gardens) is yours!
Coming from Lecco: once you are in Lecco follow directions for Bellagio. You must keep the river and lake always on your right hand side.Once you reach the town of Lecco on your right hand side you will come on the lakeside road for approx. 20 kms up to Bellagio. Again parts of this road are narrow with quite a few interesting bends and turns. When you drive down into Bellagio you will come to a petrol station ERG and traffic sign sending you and all traffic left along via Domenico Vitali .... Follow this road until the end and the "stop" sign ... Here you need to turn left (following the sign to Como)... You will pass Hotel Silvio on your right hand side and after approximately 1,5 km you pass the first turning for San Giovanni (DO NOT TAKE IT) and head slowly up hill to the second turning which is indicated for San Giovanni - Ristorante Mella - Porto Turistico and take this which is on your right side ... Go slowly as you will then take the first left along Via al Crotto this is narrow road and after approx 200 metres it widens and you will take the first road down to the right. As you turn the property is the one (white palazzo) on your left side. Coming from Menaggio or Varenna take the ferry-boat for Bellagio. When you are in Bellagio take the road for Como on your right hand side... and then as above.
Coming by train: coming from Varenna, you can take tha ferry boat to Bellagio and then follow the main road to Como as above. Coming from Comoyou can decide to rtake the bus to Bellagio, but the best solution to visit the lake is to rent a car and follow the directions to Bellagio, as above.
Coming by plane: the best is to reach Como and the by car, you follow the directions to Bellagio. |
