Profile

You can find the Hotel Palazzo Lovera and the restaurant in Via Roma, in an old and impressive building in Cuneo. Built and rebuilt by the Lovera Di Maria family, this Palace has given hospitality to many famous people through the years, who showed an appreciation for the hearty welcome they received. Pope Pio VII was held here as one of Napoleon's prisoners.

Many of the historical figures that sojourned here expressed their satisfaction: King Francis I gave the owner his armour and Pope Pio VII declared Cuneo an independent diocese as soon as he was released. Nowadays the direction is hold by Stefania Calandri, daughter of hotelkeepers for three generations, and her husband Giorgio Chiesa, whose twenty-year experience in some of the most important European hotels helps him to carry on with the traditional hospitality that leaves guests with a nice memory of their stay.

The "Delle Antiche Contrade" restaurant is a member of the exclusive and prestigious association called "Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe". Recently reconstructed with warm and suffused lights, multicoloured leather chairs, linen tablecloths and modern signed paintings, the restaurant has a pleasant and elegant atmosphere, mingled with a cooking related to our territory and traditions. The restaurant also provides a large cellar with more than 900 Italian, foreign and different types of Piedmontese wine.

A special glass cold store enables a certain amount of bottles to be kept inside the restaurant, still maintaining them under computerised control at a temperature and a degree of humidity respectively of 16°C and of 60%. To make the accommodation facilities more complete the hotel provides our guests with a furnished meeting room for 90 people. Moreover there is a cellar, containing bottles of wine for exposition, which can be used for coffee breaks.
