 The hotel "Il Girasole" run by Mr. and Mrs. Orlando is located near the Castle of Materita -- primary residence of Axel Munthe, the Swedish writer and doctor, where between 1927 and 1929 he wrote "The Story of San Michele", the novel read throughout the world -- between the Belvedere Migliera to the feet of Monte Solaro and is only 300 meters from the bus station which connects the most important points of the island. |
 Il Girasole is an oasis for all dreamers who wish to pass their vacation in one of the most enchanting angles of the island. From the swimming pool to the orange and lemon trees where one's gaze is lost in the fiery sunset, one's thoughts go back in time tasting the local wine produced by the proprietors in their adjacent vineyard. |
 Lunch is served in the garden under the typical Caprese pergola between the bougainvillea and jasmine and is prepared directly by the owners with local products and home-grown produce. |
