 There are a number of obligated spots to visit at Otranto`s historical centre, where you will be staying. Castello Aragonese is the main fortress in town, along with the Pelasgi bastions. As for the temples, Cathedral dell`Annunziatta, placed a few steps from the property, is the most important, sporting terrific Baroque decorations; but you should also check Abbazia di San Nicola di Casole, a medieval construction. Lecce, the main city in the area, is only 45 kilometres away from Otranto: it is really worth visiting, as it features some of the best examples of the architecture known as Baroque from Puglia. After these cultural activities, you could stay till the evening and enjoy the intense nightlife of this destination in southern Italy. |
