By plane: The nearest international airports are Innsbrick (160 kilometres), Valerio Catullo in Verona (180 km) and Marco Polo in Venice (170 km). However, it would be ideal to get a connection to Bolzano (37 km) or even Trento (2 hours away by bus), which are smaller but receive connections from other cities in Italy.
By car: There are two main ways to reach Vigo di Fassa. You can take the A22 motorway coming from Bolzano, more southern cities in Italy or even from Austria and Brennero, and abandon it at Egna/Ora. Soon you will be driving along the SS48 motorway: this track passes the Val di Femme and the town of Moena (45 kilometres from Ora) before reaching Vigo di Fassa. An alternative and shorter way is to leave from Bolzano, though in winter it could become more demanding: go in the direction Bolzano Nord and pass the Val d`Ega. Cross the Passo Costalunga before reaching Vigo di Fassa (the distance from Bolzano to Vigo is of 37 kilometres).
By train: At Bolzano railway station you can get buses leaving to Vigo di Fassa and arriving there in an hour. Take into account that all services belonging to Intercity and Eurostar within Italy stop at Bolzano. The bus will leave you only 150 metres from the Hotel La Grotta. You can also find services leaving from Trento, which take 2 hours up to Vigo di Fassa. |
