The Archipelago "La Maddalena" situated in front of the "Bocche di Bonifacio" at the northern Sardinia, is formed by 7 major islands and many other small islands. Established a National Park in 1996, the archipelago is one of the last Italian ecological paradises. One of the many aspects that strikes us the most in these islands is the landscape that is formed by natural sculptures, modeled by the wind and the water. The beaches that coast the Maddalena Island are enchanting and different one from another, all of them with the typical turquoise clear waters and in its transparency you can admire its amazing bottoms. |

By Air
The nearest airport is Costa Esmeralda at Olbia, located at 45 km from Palau. From Olbia is possible to take a taxi to Palau (60 euros circa) with a supplement for the luggage, it is a 40 minute drive.
By Sea
Travelling by ship you can disembark at Olbia or Golfo degli Aranci and during the summer season directly at Palau with ships and ferry boats of different companies from Genoa, Livorno, Fiumicino (Rome) and Civitavecchia. From Golfo degli Aranci and Palau the distance is 70 km and it is a 1 hour 20 minutes trip.
From Palau
There is a ferry shuttle that leaves every 15 minutes for La Maddalena, the crossing takes around 15/20 minutes and offers you the possibility of enjoying the wonderful view of the Palau's coast, Santo Stefano Island and the little Marina of Cala Gavetta. The tickets can be purchased at the entrance of Main Palau's Port. The three Ferry Companies are Saremar, Enermar and Decolmar. Once you have reached the Maddalena's Port, in a 15 minutes drive you will arrive at Porto Massimo, a little Marina with a residential compound where the Hotel Cala Lunga is located. Upon your request, the hotel staff can arrange a transfer from Palau and from Olbia (the service will be charged). |
