With the white pavilions and the flowering terraces which slope down to the sea, the Hotel is immersed in an oasis of colours and perfumes typical of the Mediterranean vegetation. A wonderful natural cave, Grotta Azzurra, after which the Hotel is called, is set in the cliff below; one of the most beautiful on the island, famous for the spectacular chromatic plays you can enjoy inside it. |
The Restaurant "La cala dei Fenici" suggests the typical specialities of the island in a perfect union between the pleasure of a good cuisine and a refined service. The bar serves cocktails and wonderful fruiot drinks during the day and night. The rocky beach of the Hotel is equipped with a swimming-pool and a hydro-massage and a characteristic windmill rises above it. |

| The name of the island derives from the Roman name Ustum, which signifies "burnt". It is probably due to its volcanic aspect and to its particular geological structures. This name yet contradicts with the green, which covers the island and brightens up its landscape. This was the first Mediterranean place to be declared marine natural reserve and is an authentic paradise, thirty-six miles from the Sicilian Coast, which gives hospitability in the depth of its waters to the most marine fauna and flora of our Mare Nostrum. It is divided into three naturalistic areas to avoid the harmful effects of an indiscriminate tourism. Ustica has made a series of interventions in defence of its incalculable natural patrimony. |
