These quarries speak of the history of the place, as they used to be caves for the Greeks, the original founders of the famous Syracuse, as far back as 734 B.C. The relative height enables the visitor to get fascinating views of the Mediterranean Sea from the windows, while the lavish accommodations contribute to the charm.

The Grand Hotel Villa Politi is a 4-stars hotel, famous in the city, built in the 1862 with a sophisticated appearance right from the entrance: once you have passed the wrought iron gate, you will be amazed by the helicoidal staircase that leads to the main hall, the colonnade at the portico and other details have been enjoyed by visitors for years, including princes, kings and Sir Winston Churchill.

All in all, it is a real monument from the 19th century, but a love history is also part of its origins: the design was made by Austrian Maria Theresa Laudien in 1862 and it was named after her husband, Salvatore Politi, who belonged to a famous family of painters.

However, renovations have always been in mind, therefore
the classical, luxurious facilities live besides the latest technologies, the last works being made in 1997. At any of its 100 rooms, enjoy the personalized furnishings as well as the air conditioning, and ask for the suites if you feel like relaxing at the Jacuzzi.
