Facilities within the Property

The Grand Hotel Villa Politi is hosted into a building very sumptuous, with an entrance that will leave you open-mouthed: after a wrought iron gate, the visitor reaches and helicoidal staircase that leads to a portico, and then, once inside, the hall has carpets, armchairs and enchanting Liberty stained glass windows that let the sun in during the day.

At this 4-stars hotel you will dine at the Laudien restaurant, placed on the ground floor. Here the typical Sicilian cuisine is offered, with musts such as the "pasta a la Norma" or the local seafood. On the same level a bar serves snacks and drinks and the reception receives guests 24 hours a day in English, Italian, German, Spanish and French.

A buffet breakfast is displayed every morning at the Laudien restaurant: among the items available for your first meal, there are croissants, yoghurt, cheese, jam, fresh cakes and fruits.

From the front desk, you will be able to organise car rental, transfers to the airport and request baby-sitters to look after your kids. Meanwhile, at the hotel grounds there is a parking lot, and
access to internet is possible from any point in the hall.

The outdoor area of the Grand Hotel Villa Politi is worth taking a look at, and if you visit the inn during summer, it will actually be your favourite spot. The swimming pool is open from April to October and it is surrounded by a large park, trees and foliage that create a real "oasis" where to spend hot afternoons. At the solarium you will find all the furniture equipment you need to sunbathe, and there is no need to go back to your room to change after a swim: besides the pool there is a changing room, a shower and restrooms, while an adjoining bar lets you regain your energies with a fresh drink.

The Grand Hotel Villa Politi also aims to visitors on business trips, as it comprises various meeting rooms. The largest is the Convivia Hall, which hosts conventions and congresses for up to 250 people: in order to assure their comfort, it has a welcome desk, private restrooms and bar, a coating room and a veranda, and the main area for presentations is equipped with projectors, microphones, screens and a stage with a podium for the speakers.

The Latomie Hall can accommodate 180 attendants, and the Churchill Hall, around 60. If your wish is to set an event in lavish surroundings, the latter is the best choice, as the room features a delightful bow-window and a ceiling with Liberty windows, among other details Winston Churchill used to enjoy during his stays at the Grand Hotel Villa Politi.

Syracuse was under the domain of various cultures before becoming part of Italy, and that is why the architecture and other remains from the Greek, the Arabs, the Romans and the Normans are some of the interesting sights to visit. However, in spite of all these influences, Syracuse is known as an excellent example of the Baroque style, and this has to do with fortune rather than invasions: in 1693, a terrible earthquake destroyed part of the city and the rebuilding was made in the early 18th century, bestowing the characteristics that were prevalent in those times.

Among these buildings,
the Duomo is Syracuse`s landmark: it is a cathedral placed in the Ortygia island (2 kilometres from the Grand Hotel Villa Politi), constructed on the ruins of a Doric temple from the 5th century B.C.

Syracuse is also known for its theatres: at only 1 kilometre from the inn you will find the Teatro Greco (or Greek Theatre), the biggest in Sicily and still showing famous Greek tragedies. This drama stage was built in the 5th century B.C. inside the Colle Temenite rock and is also near the Roman Amphitheatre, from the Augustan period.
