Piazza Armerina: Piazza Armerina is approximately 30 km from Enna. The historical centre of Piazza Armerina is dominated from the Aragonese Castle and the Dome, that make it easy visible from the surrounding localities. Its name derives from the medioeval latin Plątea (public square of the market), to which in 1862 was added Armerina (castrum armorum) because of the centre fortified by the Normans as "castle of the crews", built up in the XI century.
Caltagirone: Caltagirone is a city in the province of Catania, Sicily, built on two eminences about 2000 feet above sea-level, connected by a bridge. It is supposed by some to be the ancient Hybla Minor, by others the ancient Gela. In the Middle Ages it became a Saracen stronghold. The first two syllables of its name are of Arabic origin (kalaat, castle). The Genoese tried unsuccessfully to expel the Arabs from Caltagirone, which later, however, with the rest of Sicily fell into the hands of the Normans. Caltagirone had a role of first plain also in the popular movements that, in the 1282, they conducted to the rebellion of the "Vespri Siciliani".
