By Car-
From South (Rome): take the A1 highway for Florence and leave it at Orte. Take the motorway E 45 for Todi. After about 45 minutes' drive, leave it at Todi south, the first exit for Todi. Follow the road signs for the historical centre and reach the big round Renaissance church of Consolazione (the church with one dome surmounting four smaller domes). DO NOT TURN RIGHT towards the historical centre or main square, but rather drive straight ahead towards Orvieto. Drive past the Convento di Montesanto, and from there for about 500 mt until you see a narrow white country road to the right (the last white country road to the right before the hairpin bend). There is a wood sign showing the Convent. Follow that narrow road straight ahead up to the iron gate of the Convent. Please, ring the bell!
From North (Florence): take the A1 highway for Rome and leave it at Valdichiana. Take the motorway E45 for Perugia. Drive past Perugia and follow the road signs for Todi. Leave it at Todi-Orvieto. At the junction, turn left, drive through the small village Ponte Rio, the small bridge and soon after the bridge turn right, drive up the steep hill until you reach the beautiful gate Porta Perugina. At the gate, turn right, drive along the ring road, past the parking area with the elevator, up to the next junction. Turn right for Orvieto. |
