Plunging down into the Mediterranean Sea from the peaks of the 'Monti Lattari', with precipes and terraces, that man has vigorously and laboriously cultivated throughout the centuries obtaining spectacular Lemon groves and Vineyards.  The crack deep in the rocks is forming a gorge of dramatic beauty, in the heart of the coast. It is a unique presence in southern Europe and is known as one of the most beautiful places in Italy. The original houses built into the mountain; with the steep steps that ascend to the sky, the swelling white waves of the sea, its own fury gave birth to the name of the town. The sparsely inhabited village has hosted numerous European artists giving rise to a truly open air museum with its own ghosts who range from Ullisses to the Saracens, Magnani to Rossellini.
