The strategically position of the hotel allows you to reach every place of interest, such as the airport, the business area and the centre in a few minutes. Near the hotel there is some good restaurants, with typical "Bolognese" cuisine and big shopping-centre.
Santuario di San Luca: Traditional place of worship for the presence of an image the Virgin of St. Luca as well as reassuring visual landmark for Bolognese approaching town, the shrine located on top of Guardia hill is one of Bologna's symbol. The outside structure fully in tune with the Bolognese tradition, is devoid of emphatic and solemn decorations, displaying the characteristically simple curve profile supporting the dome. The indoor structure with an elliptic plan opens up in a Greek cross ending with the main altar standing before the chapel of the Virgin.
Art Gallery: The Modern Art Gallery of Bologna was founded in 1926. In 1975 the Gallery moved into the present premises in the Fiera District, which were specially designed by Leone Pancaldi. At the ground floor there is the area called Spazio Aperto: it is an area linked to the exposition rooms but independent from them, a special place for the experimentation inside the Museum.
The Asinelli Tower: It was built in 1109. The two 'twin' towers the traditional symbol of Bologna, stand at the strategic point where the old Emilian way entered the town. Today they stand right at the middle of the opening of Porta Ravegnana square, but this does not correspond to their original layout, which comprised wooden constructions all around their base and hanging passageways. The Tower Garisenda, the "smaller sister" of the Tower of the Asinelli, is tilted in the opposite direction. The Garisenda Tower, constructed in the same period of the Tower of the Asinelli, had to catch up the same height.
The international airport: Just 5 km from the old town, have daily connection flights with the main Italian and European cities.
The railway station: 1.5 km from the old town makes Bologna the ideal base for visiting the historical cities Venice, Florence, Milan in less than two hours. |
