Took a local bus from the airport but did not know which stop to get off. It made it a bit awkward pulling heavy luggage through the street while trying to find the hotel. It would have been useful to get your recommendations on the best way to get there from the airport. The bus was crowded and we had no place to put our luggage. ... It was a wondeful introduction to Italy and I would not hesitate to stay at the hotel again. The church bells ringing and the small terrace were very appreciated. Its central location is a huge bonus.I wished I had stayed in Bologna for more than the one day ... The hotel staff kindly took care of our luggage while we did some sightseeing. Also I had left a very personal journal in the room under my pillow. The cleaning staff returned it to the front desk and they gave it to me when I came back to pick up my luggage. I was extremely grateful ... I would include a more detailed recommendation about how to get there by bus from the airport such as a link to a bus route map. ... A hidden gem for the most discriminating of travellers.
The hotel was up a small quiet side street just off the Piazza Maggiore. The rooms are small but spacious enough, beautifully furnished with typical italian antiques. The room was filled with richly coloured fabrics and elegantly appointed, and the small terrace off the bedroom was inviting and peaceful. The bathroom was large, rich in marble and spotlessly clean. The bowl of fruit in the room was a nice touch and greatly appreciated. The location is a one minute stroll to the Piazza and the side streets nearby full of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, pastries etc. I loved it and wished I'd spent more than one day. The restaurant we went to nearby was recommmended in Frommers and was outstanding. Bologna is certainly a feast for the soul and deserves more attention.

The hotel was very accomodating, as I was given the same room I stayed in 6 months earlier, and was changed to a better room with balcony. ... The hotel is perfectly located. The rooms (I have stayed in two) and of reasonable size. The better room with balcony does however have a fairly small bathroom (no bath). ... An excellent selection for breakfast. Possibly one of the best I have seen. ... Excellent location. Comfortable rooms. Friendly staff.

Can't comment on the directions as we used a navigation system to find the hotel. ... The position of Art Hotel Commercianti is ideal for sight-seeing in the centre of Bologna; it isn't possible to be more central. As the hotel has a garage (which most in the centre don't) this makes it very convenient.
