We did not like the suite we were allocated, & asked to change rooms. This request was granted, but a sea-view suite was not available, & we could not have the new room for the whole period of our stay. We checked out two days early, & were given a reduced rate on the room. ... The restaurant staff were attentive. The service and food excellent. ... Helpful staff & a small gift was a nice touch.. ... The hotel is some distance from Sorrento, & it is not possible to walk to it, due to the very busy roads. Parking in Sorrento is a nightmare, & I would not recommend driving in the area for the inexperienced.
... Old world Italian charm, with staff to match.

very quick and easy although as this is the first time we have used such a system we were unsure if everything would run smoothly, as it happens everything went to plan. ... best head waiter we have seen for years. the boat was out of service unfortunately ... excellent, although we have stayed in better hotels the service was fantastic and the location stunning. On surveying the area it was definately the best hotel we could see.Several times we asked to be directed to a good restaraunt but we couldn't find better than the cocumella.

When we arrived we were greeted by the concierge Guiseppe. He was very pleasant and parked our car for us and took the luggage in. Janet the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We spent 10 days on the amalfi coast staying in different hotels along the way and my husband and I thought the Staff af the Cocumella were the nicest. They went out of their way to get to know the guests and make you feel warm and welcome. We loved the hotel and the staff...if we come back to the area..we would stay there again and we will recommend it to our friends ... When we left the hotel we were going to the isle of capri and staying overnight on the island. The hotel let us keep the car at the cocumello which I felt very comforting since it is well watched and protected there. I felt they were very accomadating on this and appreciated it vey much. ... The hotel is an old monastery and still has a chapel that was used by the monks. The hotel holds chamber music concerts in the chapel during the summer season. It is charming. The hotel has incredible gardens which jut down to the sea and it is built high on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The upper rooms acutally have views of the ocean. There is an elvator down through the rocks to their own private beach. We swam in the Mediterrean Sea and it was incredible. ... Beautiful hotel with incredible architecture and gardens with the nicest staff in the world. The food was very good ( we did have dinner there) A very comfortable luxurious hotel.

In comparison to other 5 star accommodations we have stayed, the room service and some of the wait staff did not perform 5 star quality performance. ... I would not venture to say 'worse'. Overall the property was slightly under what expected, but nice. The room ambience, however was not as expected from images from website. As a 5 star hotel, and for the rate paid more attention to the decor should be noted. ... Concierge service was excellent upon our departure in arranging a private car, etc. ... Nice, quaint and an authentic feel.
