 The owners, Chrissie and David, who live on the property, offer a very warm welcome to all their guests. They want to ensure all their guests have the best holiday possible and therefore offer their help both before guests arrive and whilst the guests are in Italy. They are available to give on-site assistance and the following services: advice on car-hire, flights and local transport, advice on places to see and activities in the local area, book activities/tours/restaurants, baby-sitting and grocery shopping. |
 On the ground floor of the main house there is a communal room. This includes a sitting area with open fire, well stocked library, internet and telephone access and a large dinning area. It leads onto a terrace with external dinning facilities for the warmer months. The room is available for all guests and is the perfect place to mingle or for large groups to utilise for both eating and socialising. |
 The 14.5m x 4.5m swimming pool is situated on a terrace, with sun-beds and umbrellas, at the top of the property with magnificent views across the valley. The south facing aspect, ensures the area takes advantage of the sun throughout the day and its elevated position often brings a cooling breeze for a welcome relief to the heat of the summer. |
 It is the perfect place to enjoy a cool glass of 'Vino Bianco' and watch the evening sun set across the mountains. There is a traditional, outdoor, wood-burning bread oven and the guests are encouraged to try their hands at creating their own pizzas. There are 3 acres of garden which consist of grass and wooded areas, perfect to find a spot to relax under the shade of an oak tree or to enjoy a picnic or a game on the lawns.
There are both vegetable and herb gardens which guests are welcome to use and a barbeque area. In addition there is use of a communal laundry and the following items are available to use included in the price: child high chair, child travel cot, child changing mat, and portable barbeque, 3 sets of golf clubs, picnic hampers and umbrellas. |

Walking
The immediate area around Casa San Gabriel is ideal for a leisurely 1 or 2 hour walk in the unspoilt countryside of our valley. Chrissie and David can also provide maps and details of a number of walks in this area that range in length and difficulty. Alternatively they can provide guests with details of local guides who arrange day walks, for example across Mount Subasio or the area around Lake Trasimeno.
Tennis
In nearby Umbertide there are both indoor and outdoor tennis court for hire.
Golf
There are a number of golf courses in the nearby area and there a 3 setss of golf clubs available for use by the guests.

Robert Trent Jones designed, championship 18 hole course, only 5 minutes from Casa San Gabriel. Unfortunately it is not due to reopen until 2005.

Off-road Quad biking
In nearby Montone you can hire 'Quad Bikes' and be taken on guided drives through the incredible scenery of that area, going through any number of mud holes.
Lake Trasimeno
Casa San Gabriel is only 20 minutes drive from Lake Trasimeno which has a vast array of activities. Watersports include:
. Sailing: There are 2 schools for sailing, Castiglione del Lago which is open all year and Passignano sul Trasimeno which is open from May to October.
. Windsurfing - 2 schools
. Water skiing - 2 schools
Alternatively you can visit one of the 3 islands on the lake, Isola Minore, Isola Maggiore and Isola Polvere. These can be visited by ferry from a number of the towns around the lake and they offer the opportunity to visit museums of local crafts, historical buildings or just wander in the national parks and discover the local flora and fauna. In addition there are nine public beaches on the Islands and around the lake, where you can sunbathe or swim in the shallow water of the lake.
Places to visit
Casa San Gabriel offers its guest the opportunity to explore numerous places of historial importance and beauty. Below is a brief list of some of those that can be visited on day trips in Umbria, Tuscany and Le Marche. In Umbria guests can explore the magnificent town of Assisi and marvel at the Basilica, which can be seen from Casa San Gabriel. Guests might enjoy a days shopping in nearby Perugia or taking a walk to the top Gubbio to see the magnificent views. Southern Umbria is well within a days visit and guests can choose between the stunning façade of the cathedral at Orvieto or a leisurely stroll around lovely Todi. The border of Tuscany is only 15 minutes drive which makes Cortona, Arezzo and many other of the famous towns of Tuscany an easy day daytrip.
Le Marche is still very much undiscovered but a trip to Urbino, one of the classic hills towns of Italy is worth considering.
The Local Area
Casa San Gabriel is only 5 kms from the main E45, but 1.5kms on a white road, means that the property is secluded but by no means remote with the nearby village of Pierantonio only 5 minutes drive and the local market town of Umbertide 10 minutes drive. Umbertide is a thriving market town with a wonderful weekly market, a large supermarket and a wide variety of shops and facilties. Pierantonio is the nearest local village providing most things guests would want including a post office, bank, small supermarket, butchers and grocers. There a wide variety of restaurants in the nearby vicinity, ranging from local pizzerias to 6 course meals in stunning villas, fish restaurants nearby at Lake Trasimeno or gourmet delights in Perugia.
