Wine Cellar: The origins of Armando Piazzo's family lie on the hills of the upper Langa, where the vine continues to be cultivated despite the many difficulties and the changes that have taken place. His forefathers came down from San Bovo di Castino to the gentler hills of the Barbaresco wine-growing area, just outside Alba and settled in San Rocco Seno d'Elvio. |
Nowadays the estate has been extended: over 150 acres of vineyards surrounding the winery that stands on the border between Alba and Treviso, as well as in Novello in the Barolo wine-producing-area, and in Mango on the hills of the Moscato wine-producing-area. Each year the vineyards of Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera, Moscato Bianco and Chardonnay produce Barbaresco, Barolo, Nebbiolo d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba and Moscato d'Asti, as well as three wines under the Langhe denomination - Dolcetto, Nebbiolo and Chardonnay. |

The beauty and riches of the Langhe area ensure full appreciation of art, history and relaxation - whatever the season - in truly exhilarating nature. Wilma and Albino of Cascina Barąc are glad to provide useful information on the most enchanting places to visit in the surrondings: the loveliest spots that often escape the attention of tourists pressed for time, but are well - known to people whose families have been living here for generations. |
In this amazing mosaic of hills and valleys tiny, colourful villages are always just round the corner, each with its old church, a main square that comes to life on market days, a trattoria serving local dishes, and a café where you can stop off for a chat. And just a short way off, the imposing presence of a castle, a tower, or an old defensive wall conjures up a history of free communes or of strongholds against the invading Saracens. |
