Although the staff was friendly, their information was often either incorrect or less than helpful. We hiked to the cemetary on their recommendation only to find it closed for the afternoon when we got there. The restaurant the recommended on the harbor was adequate at best (although the view was spectacular). Their directions to Pompeii neglected to include the fact that the buses didn't run on Sundays from where we landed by ferry.

On the plus side, the rooms were clean, the continental breakfast was great, the hotel was close to everything, and the other restaurant they recommended - the one right next to the hotel was the best we ate at our entire trip.

Fast and easy. No surprises.

The Amalfi Hotel is a nice, economical, clean, and friendly hotel. Double check the information they give you, but they all speak English and are very nice. We'd stay there again.

Hotel is in old, walled town of Amalfi. Maps of this area are small-scale and not detailed, so finding the place is not that easy. After the climb and drop through the mountains, with so many hair-pin bends on the way to Amalfi, it isn't much fun driving back and forth, doing 3-point turns on very narrow raods with drivers hurtling past, when trying to find the hotel and the road it's on! The only entrance by car to Amalfi old city is to ignore and squeeze past(possibly having to physically move) the 'closed'/'do not enter' metal barrier, drive past the duomo on the right and stop the car up by the shops just after the traffic lights. You may need to show your booking-confirmation for hotel if a guard is on duty by the entrance to the old town. The hotel have a garage and charge 12 euros a day for this. They'll take the car to the garage and bring it back to the hotel.

Amalfi is a very picturesque and charming old town, right by the sea. Quite touristy, but many of the tourists were Italian. Fantastic eating, stunning scenary, nice sea-side town with good access to water, water-sports, boats and good sea-food. Many lovely little villages/towns nearby with similarly good scenary. Hotel very clean, newly tiled so pleasant rooms with good, new bathrooms.

Hotel is excellently located in old town, 5 mins from sea and in heart of the old town, surrounded by tourist-tat shops, but also good restaurants, cafes, and amazing gellaterias with outstanding gellato. We would stay there again happily.

If you have a car parked in garage, inform staff the day before what time you want them to retrieve the car - takes 20 mins for them to get it at least - more if you give them no notice.

Must have ice-cream and limoncello when there.
...
Clean, very well located, simple and straight-forward, not luxurious but very comfortable.
