When we arrived, the receptionist said 'Hello, passports' - she proceeded to take our passports, get a key and began walking away. We had to run to catch up to her. She took us to the room, opened the door and handed us the key. As she walked away I had to ask about our passports, she said 'pick them up tonight.' The room we got did not have a balcony as I requested. ... The room was exactly as I had expected, although the bathroom was a bit odd, considering the entire bathroom is the shower. That made for a bit of a hassle, having to take everything out of the bathroom just to take a shower. The hotel wold have been great, if the owners were not as rude and unhelpful as they were. ... The owner had nothing prepared, it took about 10 minutes to get everything done and she wrote it all out by hand on a piece of paper. Overall, I loved the location of the hotel but the owners were the most unhelpful hotel staff I have ever encountered. Because of this we did have to do a lot of leg work ourselves, such as figuring out where things were, how to get there, where the buses were, where to get bus tickets. We met a couple staying at the hotel next door, Onda Verde and they told us how their hotel had assisted them in getting taxis, letting them know the bus schedule, scheduling boat trips etc. We had nothing even remotely close to this. The trip could have been so much easier if the owners of this hotel were just a bit more hospitable. I don't think they like having non-Italians stay at their place. ... There is a very steep hill that one must climb to get to the road, where the bus stop is. If one is not in particulary good shape or has any kind of disability - they should stay at the Onda Verde which has an elevator. This was not a problem for us until the last day having to get our luggage to the top of the hill was quite an ordeal.
... Beautiful location, great restaurants just outside the door, quiet, non-touristy, with the grumpiest, rude and unhelpful staff (except for the cleaning woman who was absolutely a gem and very kind!)
